Many of his major iconic roles were performed for the first time at the Met. In 1926 he made his Metropolitan Opera debut and would go on to perform 22 years with the company.
After four years of Military service during World War I, he made his La Scala debut in 1922 and would see his career flourish under Arturo Toscanini. He made his Operatic debut in 1914 at Cremona.
The bass grew up in Ravenna and would study in Bologna. Italian bass Ezio Pinza, born on May 18, 1892, never learned to read music.īut that didn’t stop him from enjoying a massively successful career.
